PHUKET, 10 June 2013 (NNT) – The Meteorological Department has warned residents of Phuket and its surrounding provinces to brace for possible mudslides and more heavy rains during the next two days.
From June 10-12, a strong monsoon covering the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand will continue to bring widespread thunderstorms to the western coast of the South, particularly Phuket, Phang Nga and Krabi provinces. The weather bureau has coordinated with local Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Offices to issue alerts warning residents of possible flash floods.
Overnight rain on Sunday caused brief flooding in the Patong area of Phuket, bringing traffic in most parts to a standstill.
