Songkhla tightens security before Krue Se anniversary, next peace talks

SONGKHLA, April 23 – Security measures have been tightened in Thailand’s commercial hub of this southern border province ahead of the anniversary of the Krue Se mosque incident and the upcoming peace talks between the Thai authorities and insurgent groups.

Songkhla provincial police commander Pol Maj-Gen Suwit Chernsiri said he instructed security officials to continue strict security operations at six checkpoints on the outskirts of Hat Yai, although Songkran holiday has ended.
