Antiques stolen from Chai Nat Muni National Museum

CHAI NAT, 23 April 2013 (NNT) – Several relics have been stolen from the Chai Nat Muni National Museum in what police believe to be an inside job.

The commander of the Chai Nat Provincial Police reported that there are a total of 61 artifacts missing from the museum, including 2 pairs of ivory and ancient clay pots. Authorities have not been able to estimate the combined value of the stolen pieces.

Police made known that initial investigation suggests that the theft could have been committed by museum personnel as the storage room is only accessible to the staff. There was also no sign of forced entry near the doors.

Police added that closed-circuit television footage cannot be recovered due to intentional damage to the internal hard drive.
