4 million THB worth of Siamese rosewood seized in Nakhon Phanom

BANGKOK, 19 April 2013 (NNT) – One hundred and thirty nine Siamese rosewood logs have been confiscated in Nakhon Phanom Province.

According to the Phu Langka National Park, the seizure of the 139 logs of Siamese rosewood came in light of an intelligence report that there would be a smuggling of the protected wood. Upon inspection of the area along the Mekong River, officials spotted several people smuggling the wood out of the country. However, all the suspects managed to flee the scene.
