Decision pending on curfew imposition in Thai Deep South

BANGKOK, 6 February 2013 (NNT) – Deputy Prime Minister Police Captain Chalerm Yubamrung has revealed that it will be decided on February 15 whether a curfew will be enforced in the restive South as it is expected to be effective in reducing insurgent attacks on civilians.

Police Captain Chalerm affirmed that after the meeting of the Committee to Mobilize Policy and Strategy to Solve Problems in the Southern Border Provinces this February 15, it will be clear as to what measures will be taken in tackling the southern insurgency. One of the measures being considered is the imposition of a curfew in violence-prone areas of the southernmost region.
