9 districts in Sa Kaeo declared flood disaster zones

SA KAEO, 20 September 2012 (NNT) – All 9 districts of the northeastern province of Sa Kaeo have been declared flood disaster zones, with Aranyaprathet being the hardest hit.

Sa Kaeo Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office Chief Charat Yaiyuea said the 9 flood-ravaged districts consist of Mueang, Khlong Hat, Ta Phraya, Wang Nam Yen, Watthana Nakhon, Aranyaprathet, Khao Chakan, Khok Sung and Wang Sombun.

Bouts of overnight heavy rains in the past weekend are said to have caused Phrom Hot Canal to overflow, flooding thousands of households across the province. Due to the rising floodwater, roads in the Thai-Cambodian trading hub of Aranyaprathet are now impassable to vehicles.
