Democrat leader urges PM Yingluck to take charge in far South

BANGKOK, Aug 6 – Opposition Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva on Monday pointed out problems at both policy and operational levels in tackling the continuing violence in Thailand’s insurgency-torn southern border region, urging the prime minister to be fully in charge for integrated policy implementation.

The former premier’s advice was given as he visited the restive southern province of Pattani this morning and exchanged views with concerned officials and local residents.
