Myanmar President to visit Thailand’s Laem Chabang Deep Sea Port

BANGKOK, 14 July 2012 (NNT) – Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will lead Myanmar President General Teng Seng on a tour of the eastern seaboard when the latter visits Thailand from July 22 – 24.

Government Spokesperson Sansanee Nakphong said both prime ministers met in Cambodia on the sidelines of the US-Asean Business Forum before the weekend. They affirmed continued cooperation in the development of infrastructural projects in Myanmar. Among those projects, the two prime ministers shared the same view that the Dawei Deep Sea Port construction project should be upgraded as a government-to-government cooperation as it would be beneficial not only to Thailand and Myanmar, but also to the Southeast Asian region as a whole.

Apart from Laem Chabang Deep Sea Port, General Teng Seng will also visit nearby industrial estates. Ms. Sansanee said the Myanmar President seemed satisfied with the official schedule because it would be his first experience in this field.
