Red shirts rally in front of parliament

BANGKOK, 7 June 2012 (NNT) – The United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) have gathered in front of the parliament in Bangkok in protest against the judges of the Constitution Court.

Tables have been set up to gather signatures, seeking to impeach seven Constitution Court judges, following a controversial decision to launch the judicial inquiry into the charter change.

The UDD also known as Red-shirts are expected to protest until midnight or even overnight. Its core leaders have been taking stage since noon.

Security has tightened. The Metropolitan Police Bureau has prepared three companies of police to ensure peace, believing the situation will not turn violent.

The U Thong Road in front of the parliament is now closed.
