Thai PM inspects scene of devastating weekend Hat Yai car bomb

HAT YAI, April 2 – Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Monday inspected the scene of the weekend’s devastating car bombing at the Lee Gardens Plaza Hotel in Songkhla’s Hat Yai commercial district and ordered deployment of the Arintarat police commando unit to the area.

Giving words of encouragement to boost the morale of Hat Yai residents, the premier pledged her government would step up security measures. The elite Arintarat commandos, part of the Metropolitan Police Command, will be dispatched to reinforce the local security with more checkpoints to be set up across the city.
