AoT to make Don Mueang airport hub of low cost airlines

BANGKOK, 30 March 2012 (NNT) – Airports of Thailand (AoT) chairman ACM Sumet Phomanee says the AoT will make Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport (SVB) a major aviation center of Southeast Asia while Don Mueang will become an airport for low cost airlines.

According to ACM Sumet, Suvarnabhumi will be operated in full service ready to accommodate all connecting flights. This will enable SVB to become an aviation hub in this region. In the meantime, Don Mueang airport will help relieve congestion at Suvarnabhumi by serving low cost airlines which are landing here on a voluntary basis, as well as international airlines which fly on a point to point basis.

If all goes according to plan, the use of both airports will gain maximum benefit. ACM Sumet said the plan is in line with the Cabinet resolution made on February 20, 2007.
