Higher Bangkok Districts Could Be Safe from Floods
An engineering consulting firm is confident that eight major districts in inner Bangkok will be safe from flooding thanks to high elevation and extensive canal systems.
Chawalit Chantararat, managing director of engineering consultancy, Team Group, expressed confidence that flooding in Bangkok will likely be confined to the area along Bang Sue Canal because the runoff from Rangsit Canal did not spread over a wide area and the pump station there can channel water to Sam Sen Canal and to the giant drainage tunnel in the Makkasan area.
