The ASEAN Summit has commenced in Bali, Indonesia in which many issues will be discussed, including regional crisis management.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who is also the current ASEAN chair.

He stated that ASEAN must aim to increase its role on the international stage while promoting stability and security in the region.
