Hundreds of prisoners transferred out of Bangkok

NONTHABURI, Oct 26 – Thailand’s Corrections Department on Wednesday said 17 busloads of 617 convicted prison inmates with serious offences, including condemned prisoners, are being moved from Bang Kwang Prison in Nonthaburi as rising floodwater is threatening the maximum security prison.

Police, commandos, and corrections officials are guarding a throng of security buses going in a convoy to Khao Bin Prison in the western province of Ratchaburi.
