Chon Buri warns its residents of flood disease

CHON BURI, 9 October 2011 (NNT) – Chon Buri Public Health Officer, Dr. Marut Jirasetsiri, warned local residents of diseases associated with floods such as colds, athlete foot, scabies, diarrhea, and conjunctivitis.

He strongly urged local people to avoid using flood water for consumption at all costs unless it had been purified and boiled. Dr. Marut continued that residents should also only consume well cooked food. Nonetheless the provincial public health had instructed officials from various hospitals and health centers to visit the flood afflicted areas, providing flood victims of any necessary medical services.
