Acting on the usual information from an unnamed source and armed with a warrant, a major raid was launched by officers led by Police Lieutenant-General Tanae, the commissioner of Region 2, on a house in East Pattaya from where it was suspected an illegal lottery operation was being coordinated.

The information proved spot on as officers raided the house and discovered 68 people manning phones and fax machines and writing down lots of numbers into a variety of books.
