Thailand to host IOI 2011 in July

BANGKOK, 17 June 2011 (NNT) – Thailand will play host to the 23rd International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2011) from 22 to 29 July 2011 in Pattaya city, according to the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST).

IPST Director Pornpun Waitayangkoon said it is the first time for Thailand to host the IOI. She hoped that the competition will encourage Thai youth to realise the importance of computer science study as well as benefit curriculum improvement within the country.

Thai students taking part in the IOI this year comprise Mr Pasin Manurangsi from Bangkok Christian College, Mr Sorawit Suriyakan from Mahidol Wittayanusorn School, Mr Laphonchai Jirachuphun and Mr Witchakorn Kamonpornvichit from Trium Udom Suksa School.
