Phuket warns tourists of venomous jelly fish at beaches

PHUKET, JUNE 21 – The Phuket Marine Biological Centre is warning tourists not to touch jellyfish washing ashore during the monsoon season.

Centre director Wannakiat Tubtimsang warned tourists swimming at beaches in Phuket after the centre collected samples of jelly fish on Nai Harn Beach here and Nai Thon beach in Thalang district to identify them and found they were the venomous Portuguese Man O’ War variety often found in tropical waters.
