Thai Democrat Party seeks police security for PM during election campaign

BANGKOK, May 12 –The Democrat Party will ask Thailand’s police to provide security for Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva during the election campaign after the Election Commission (EC) told the premier to avoid using his state-owned bullet-proof vehicle during the election campaign.

The premier on Thursday went to Government House by a bullet-proof vehicle provided by the party in response to the Election Commission’s advice. Otherwise it could be considered using state property for the election campaign.
