PAD’s billboard dismantled by Thai police order

BANGKOK, 13 May 2011 (NNT) – Police have ordered the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) to take down its inappropriate campaign billboard and will seek the Election Commission (EC)’s consideration whether the group has breached the electoral law.

Following a meeting of the police center for the administration of peace and order during the election, National Police Spokesperson Police Major General Prawut Thavornsiri stated that a warning had been issued to the PAD over its large billboard for the ‘no vote’ campaign erected on Ratchadamnoen Nok Avenue adjacent to the group’s demonstration. The PAD is required to immediately remove the object, which bears controversial contents, especially a message that reads ‘Don’t let animals into Parliament’ and an image depicting various kinds of animals in suit.
