BANGKOK, 20 April 2011 (NNT – The Spokesperson of the Police Operations Command Centre Pol Maj Gen Prawut Thawornsiri said police raids on entertainment venues had been carried out in a bid to prevent them allowing underage patrons on the premises.
According to Pol Maj Gen Prawut, police officers who fail in their duty in keeping minors off these places will be reprimanded while legal charges will be pressed on venues that break the laws. He further disclosed that there were several illegal casinos operating behind closed doors. Illicit substances reportedly have been sold to kids while these children could be encouraged to gamble at these places.
Police are targeting crime hotspots in Bangkok as they are mostly where children are hanging out. They could be where illegal gambles are held or internet shops and game stores. Police who avoid taking action against the owners of these businesses will be penalized.
