Residents in 48 Thai provinces warned of thunderstorms

BANGKOK, 20 April 2011 (NNT) – The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has issued a warning for thunderstorms expected to strike 48 provinces across Thailand from 19 to 20 April 2011.

According to the DDPM, 48 provinces in the northern, northeastern, central and eastern region have been declared risky to powerful thunderstorms. Residents are warned that the severe weather is likely to bring damage to property, agricultural produce, and even their life.

Villagers residing in the mentioned areas are asked to monitor daily weather forecasts very closely and to make sure their own accommodations are in good condition.
