Thai Police told to increase efforts in preventing drug abuse

BANGKOK, 5 March 2011 (NNT)-National Police Chief Wichean Potphosri said Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva was only reiterating to the police to increase their efforts in narcotic drug eradication in Bangkok’s surrounding provinces, not denouncing their operation as reported.

The National Police Chief said police have made less than expected arrests so far while illicit drugs continue to spread from Bangkok to those provinces. However, police are expected to carry out further investigations on small dealers in order to get to the major ones.
