Fugitive Red Shirt leader Adisorn Piengket released on bail

BANGKOK, March 10 – Leading Red Shirt activist Adisorn Piengket, charged with terrorism, turned himself in to police on Thursday after being on the run for nine months, and was released on bail after reporting.

The former deputy agriculture and cooperatives minister in the Thaksin Shinawatra administration surrendered to the Department of Special investigation (DSI) Thursday morning. He was accompanied by former commerce minister Wattana Muangsuk.

DSI Director-General Tharit Pengdit said the department would not oppose Mr Adisorn’s bail request as he showed his willingness to turn himself in to police.
