Thailand: Crackdown on Double Entry Visas Being Enforced
The Pattaya Times staff was recently informed by an Englishman residing in Pattaya that he was refused a Thai double-entry visa in Vientiane, Laos. Further investigations revealed people having similar problems in Penang.
Apparently Thai consulates are now enforcing the ‘count the visa stamps’ rule. Stuart Anderson told the Pattaya Times that staff at the Thai consulate told him that he had too many prior entries into Thailand and refused to issue him with a double entry visa as he had already received three of these visas previously.
In another case another foreigner was also refused a double entry visa .She said “I was told I had too many prior entries into Thailand. I tried to explain that my visas were over the course of 3 years, but the response was ‘We count stickers, not days. You have 3 stickers. No double visa.’ The paper he gave me was stamped Dec 10, 2010 so I think their ‘crackdown’ was pretty recent.”
