Myanmar clashes at border continue, shells land on Thai side

MAE SOT, Jan 1 – Clashes between Myanmar government troops and Karen Buddhist ethnic soldiers continued Tuesday after mortar shells landed on the Thai side of the Moei River on Monday.

Clashes between Myanmar troops and the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA) splinter group continued as the DKBA fired mortars at a Tatmadaw military base near a Thai village in Tak’s Mae Sot district.
