Canadian couple killed in crash in Thailand

A Canadian couple were killed when the pickup-truck-bus they were riding in from the airport to their hotel crashed in Thailand only 15 minutes into 2011, according to Thai news reports.

The Phuket Gazette reported Monday that Aryporn Sunthorn, 50, and Kongseng Sunthorn, 61, were killed when the Mazda pickup truck, modified to serve as a tourist bus with two rows of seating in the rear of the truck, crashed on a hilly section of road near Phuket. Their hometown is not known.

Four other people, including another Canadian, Huy Songsak, 82, Aryporn Sunthorn’s father, were also injured in the crash, the newspaper reported.
