Thai Airways to sell one bn stocks to public

BANGKOK, 7 September 2010 (NNT) — National carrier Thai Airways International (THAI) has offered one billion ordinary shares for sale to the public.

According to THAI Acting Deputy Director General of Commerce Theerapon Chochanapiban, the issuance of the new shares will help strengthen the Airlines financial position as well as increase its liquidity. It will also help facilitating the development of the flights and networks, creating better services for customers, and giving THAI a competitive edge. Currently, the majority of THAI’s stocks, 51.03%, are owned by the Ministry of Finance.
