NARATHIWAT, Sept 16 – A father and his teenage son were gunned down in Narathiwat and a couple was shot and wounded in the adjacent province of Pattani overnight.

Latae Tangyongaree, 56 a village official and his 17-year-old son Sorlae Tanyongaree were found dead near beside motorcycle. Near their bullet-ridden bodies were 21 spent cartridge cases from M16 assault rifles.

Investigators said Mr Latae left his home Wednesday evening to work a night shift at a village checkpoint.

When Mr Latae went off duty at midnight, his son drove his motorcycle to pick him up. They were ambushed in front of their homes by four attackers.
