Thai Bomb suspects arrive from P.Penh

Two Thai bomb suspects arrive Bangkok from Cambodia

A man and a woman alleged to have masterminded the bomb blast at the Bhumjaithai Party on June 22 were returned to Thailand from Cambodia on Monday morning, arriving at Suvarnabhumi airport from Phnom Penh.

The two – Kobchai Boonplod, 41, and Warisaya Boonsom, 42 – were arrested by Cambodian authorities in Siem Reap in Northwest Cambodia on Saturday. They were then handed over to the Thai embassy in Phnom Penh.

According to the Cambodian Foreign Ministry, although there was no request from the Thai government, the Cambodian government decided to arrest and return them to Thailand because they “committed terrorist acts”.

Mr Kobchai and Ms Warisaya arrived at Suvarnabhumi airport about 11am.
