Court sentences 11 Red Shirts 15 days in jail for blocking road

BANGKOK, April 27 (TNA) – A provincial court on Tuesday sentenced 11 Red Shirt activists, who led protesters to block inbound Phaholyothin Road, to 15 days in jail without suspending their terms.

The Thanyaburi Court judges found all 11 defendants guilty of violating the Emergency Decree which bans gatherings of five or more people to incite disturbances and disrupting highway traffic.

A lawyer representing the Red Shirt put up 50,000 baht (US$1,562) as surety for each defendant to seek bail pending an appeal. The bail request is being considered by the court.
