2 Chinese killed in Thailand boat accident

A SPEED boat collision 100 meters off the southern Pattaya shore in Thailand yesterday afternoon killed two Chinese men and injured 15 others while one person remained missing.

The accident happened at 12:30 p.m. near the Bali Hai Cape pier. Police officers and rescue workers rushed to the scene after a one-engine speed boat collided with another.

One boat, carrying 29 tourists from China, South Korea and Taiwan along with a tour guide and a boat driver, sank immediately. The other boat, carrying 13 tourists from the Middle East, England and Russia, along with two boat drivers, became stranded in shallow water 30 meters offshore.
