The Beach Boys, founded in Los Angeles in 1961, is one of the most influential rock and roll groups in musical history. Its founder was considered a pop icon.
His neurocognitive disorder led a year ago to the court authorising Wilson’s legal guardianship, in response to a petition filed by friends and family in February, because of his progressive dementia.
The process began after the death of Melinda Ledbetter Wilson, the artist’s wife and manager for decades.
The American musical group, led by Brian Wilson, pioneered new approaches to popular music production, combining their affinities with vocal groups based on 1950s jazz and rock and roll to create their unique sound.
He later arranged compositions for studio orchestras and explored a wide variety of styles, often incorporating elements of classical music as well as jazz and unconventional recording techniques in innovative ways.

The band’s founding members were the Wilson brothers: Brian (songwriter, vocals, bass and piano), Carl (guitar and vocals) and Dennis (drums, vocals); a cousin of the family, Mike Love (vocals); and a fellow student of Brian’s, Al Jardine (guitar and vocals). Bruce Johnston (vocals, bass and piano) later joined the group to replace Brian Wilson for live performances.
