Thailand Introduces AI to Combat Depression

BANGKOK (NNT) – Thailand is pioneering the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to offer a lifeline to those grappling with depression and suicidal thoughts. The innovative AI DMIND technology, now part of the National Health Security Office’s (NHSO) Line service, provides immediate mental health assessments to users. The technology is the result of a collaboration between Chulalongkorn University’s Faculties of Medicine and Engineering, the NHSO, and the Department of Mental Health.

AI DMIND is designed to identify early signs of depression and suicidal ideation by analyzing voice recordings from the department’s mental health hotline database.
