Flood waters subside in 3 southern provinces

BANGKOK, 6 December 2016 (NNT) – Flooding in three of the 11 flood-affected southern provinces has improved but the government has continued to be wary about the situation. Army officers have been instructed to assist people in the submerged areas.

Spokesperson of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) Col. Sirichan Nga-thong said army chief Gen. Chalermchai Sitthinart, in his capacity as the NCPO secretary-general, expressed his concerns over the flooding in the southern region. He instructed all sides to urgently resolve the situation in order to help the affected people while ensuring security for them. The Fourth Army Area Command would cooperate will relevant units in assisting the flood-affected people in the 11 provinces, said the spokesperson.
