Thailand to integrate religious faiths with medicinal practice to enhance public health
BANGKOK, 14 August 2015 (NNT) – The Public Health Ministry is pushing for implementation of a plan promoting integration of religious teachings with medicinal practice in a bid to promote public health throughout the country. The ministry has already drawn up the National Plan on Health Enhancement through Religions and Thai Way of Life, to be proposed to the cabinet for implementation during 2016-2020.
The ministry held a technical seminar this week to recruit support for the plan’s implementation from 1,300 officials from the ministry and other units such as state hospitals, the Sangha Supreme Council, the Department of Religious Affairs, and all religious organizations in Thailand including Islam, Christianity, Brahminism, Hinduism and Buddhism.
