Chiang Rai: Lao woman caught with $400,000

A 35-year-old Lao woman has been arrested for bringing US$400,000 (13.3 million baht) into the country without declaring it, officials said on Friday.

A team of navy officers and local officials, headed by Jaturong Khachornfung, chief of the Chiang Khong branch of the Marine Office, spotted the woman at the Buk pier in Chiang Khong district of Chiang Rai on Thursday night.
