HM the King endorses General Prayuth’s appointment as PM

BANGKOK, 25 August 2014 (NNT) – His Majesty the King has given a royal command appointing Army Chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha as the 29th Prime Minister of Thailand.

The ceremony appointing Gen Prayuth, who also serves as head of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), took place on Monday morning at the Royal Thai Army headquarters, four days after the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) unanimously voted to elect the army chief as the new premier, paving the way for the formation of an interim government.
