BANGKOK, 13 August 2014 (NNT) – Due to a monsoon trough lying across Myanmar, Laos, and upper Vietnam, together with a southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, abundant rainfall is occurring over the nation, especially in the upper north in the period from 13th to 15th August 2014.
This will likely cause flash floods, forest runoff, and an increase in the risk of landslides in eight provinces of the far north including Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Son, Lampang, Lamphun, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Phrae, and Nan.
