Spate of violence reported in Thailand’s deep South

BANGKOK, 9 October 2013 (NNT) – Widespread violence has been reported in southernmost provinces of Yala and Pattani during the past two days, which killed one teacher.

Eleven bombs attacks in Yala’s Muang, Bunnangsta and Yaha districts destroyed eight ATM machines. No injuries or deaths were reported.

Police are inspecting a closed circuit camera footage from the banks where the attacks mostly took place. A manhunt is being launched to capture the perpetrators.

In Pattani, unknown assailants placed bombs near six convenience stores in the town center and shot at schools and houses of teaching staff in Saiburi district. One teacher was killed at the scene.
