BANGKOK, 12 August 2012 (NNT) – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra presided over a ceremony to pay homage to Her Majesty the Queen and light candles on the occasion of her 80th birthday anniversary. On this auspicious occasion, representatives from all government agencies gathered at the Sanam Luang ceremonial ground this evening to demonstrate their loyalty and gratitude to Her Majesty the Queen.
The ceremony was part of the many celebrations the government and private sectors have jointly arranged to mark Her Majesty’s 7th cycle birthday anniversary on August 12, 2012.
During the half-an-hour function this evening, Prime Minister Yingluck paid tributes as well as offered her humble wishes and congratulations to Her Majesty the Queen on behalf of the Cabinet, government officials, and Thai people from all walks of life. The Prime Minister also led those who assembled at Sanam Luang, in singing the Royal Anthem and the Sadudi Maha Raja as a tribute to Her Majesty.
Among other government projects implemented to mark the occasion include the planting of 800 million tree saplings nationwide, exhibitions on Thai silk, finding of land for those affected by the southern unrest, encouraging the practical use of wood, and showing of films about the life and work of Her Majesty the Queen.
