Foreigners need to exercise extreme caution with marijuana in Thailand. According to an article I read recently on marijuana laws Thailand, Anyone caught with over 10kg of marijuana will be charged with not only possession, but intent to sell, as well. This means considerably longer prison terms. Most foreigners convicted of possession of small quantities simply pay a large fine, and perhaps are deported.
