Authorities in Ubon Ratchathani province on Monday told residents to prepare for evacuation to higher ground as the water level in the Chi river and its tributaries continue to increase following heavy rains.

Provincial governor Surapon Saipan said he has issued an alert of water possibly overflowing the riverbanks in Muang district.
