Drug abuse in Thailand on the rise: National Police

13 August, 2011 (NNT) – Thai National Police Spokesperson Maj-General Prawut Thavornsiri said despite police’s efforts in stamping out narcotics in Thailand, the problem seems to get worse as more drug trafficking and abuse were on the rise.

Police chief Wichean Potphosri has treated this as an urgent matter and told everyone involved to double their efforts under this year’s operation. Police officers have been told to stay clear of drug abuse and trafficking.

Their operation on eradicating illegal substances will be carried out continuously and their achievements will be monitored. Police officers from all units are expected to be part of a meeting on the matter in order to make further progress report on the current situation.
