HM Princess Bejaratana of Thailand passes away at 85

BANGKOK, 27 July 2011 (NNT) – The Bureau of the Royal Household announced that Her Royal Highness Princess Bejaratana Rajasuda, the only daughter of King Vajiravudh, Rama VI, passed away following an illness at the age of 85.

The Princess had been admitted to Siriraj Hospital since 13 July 2011 with infections in her bloodstream. The medical team had given her the best treatment and closest attention. However, her condition had worsened and she passed away peacefully at 16.37 hours today.

His Majesty the King has commanded that her cremation ceremony be conducted with the highest royal honor attached. The royal urn will be set up at the Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall in the Grand Palace, with an official mourning of 100 days in the royal court.
