Fugitive former premier Thaksin Shinawatra expressed confidence yesterday that the Pheu Thai Party will win the upcoming general election and said he was ready to return and “serve the people” if he was needed.

Thaksin addressed a gathering for two hours via video link yesterday at an event to launch the party’s political campaign platform and its candidates. The event was broadcast live through red-shirt satellite TV, Asia Update.
