Police carry out major narcotics raids in Bangkok

BANGKOK, 24 April 2011 (NNT)-The Government has launched a new operation in eradicating illicit drugs in Bangkok and its surrounding provinces called “3-1-5”. It is said to have involved ordinary Thais, police force and soldiers in building forces against drug abuse.

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejajiva said in his weekly address yesterday that in the past two years, the number of major drug dealers arrested was increasing. With the government’s existing “5 fence policy”, it has then also extended its mission to communities following the reports on illegal gambling, entertainment venues and illegal arcade games.
