Travellers from Japan checked for radiation at Suvarnabhumi airport

Airport screening turns up no positive tests

Thai Health authorities have started screening tests for possible radiation contamination among passengers arriving from Japan as the nuclear crisis escalates in the tsunami-hit country.

Authorities have told Thais travelling to the area to take iodine tablets to protect against radiation exposure.

About 550 Thai passengers including cabin crews from seven airlines arriving at Suvarnabhumi airport from Japan on Wednesday were screened for radiation in the wake of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant explosions.
