BANGKOK, March 1 – Thailand’s Opposition Puea Thai Party on Tuesday lodged a no-confidence motion with the Speaker of House of Representatives against Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and nine Cabinet members for their alleged failure in administration of the country and corruption.
Puea Thai party-list MP Mingkwan Saengsuwan, in his capacity as head of the opposition debate team, and opposition chief whip Witthaya Buranasiri submitted the no-confidence motion to House Speaker Chai Chidchob, which was endorsed by 122 opposition MPs.
The motion singled out the government’s failure in administering the country and its inefficiency as well as corruption. The Abhisit government was also accused of abusing power with unnecessary enforcement of special security law, restricting the freedom and rights of the people.
