One soldier killed in insurgent attack at Pattani army outpost

PATTANI, March 18 – One soldier was killed when presumed insurgents on Friday fired on an army outpost in Thailand’s restive southern province of Pattani.

Yarang police chief Pol Col Tuandir Juthanant, army and provincial officials inspected the army outpost in Yarang district this morning after being informed of the insurgent attack.

Initial investigation said two men, assumed to be insurgents, used M16 rifles to shoot into the army outpost Ror 8023 and soldiers fired back until the assailants fled.
